Mold and Your Home
4/26/2018 (Permalink)
Mold is found both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the air outside can also attach itself to your clothing, shoes, and pets and be carried indoors.
Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture, such as around leaks in roofs, windows, and pipes, or where there has been flooding. Mold grows well on paper products, ceiling tiles, and wood products, as well as in dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric, and upholstery.
You can help to control mold in your home by:
- Controlling humidity levels;
- Promptly fixing leaky roofs, windows, and pipes;
- Thoroughly cleaning and drying after flooding
- Ventilating shower, laundry, and cooking areas.
Not all mold can be seen visually. It may be lurking in walls, floors, and crawl spaces.
If you suspect you may have mold in your home, especially if you have had a previous water damage call SERVPRO of Aurora, Illinois at 630-862-3930.
